23 Jun Amalgamation Meeting March 2020
Nearly one hundred brethren attended Stokesley Masonic Hall on 9 March to witness a ceremony unique in the Province, when Cleveland Centenary 6249 was amalgamated with its mother lodge – Cleveland 543.
A diminishing membership and lack of candidates meant that the former lodge faced the prospect of no longer being viable.
However, rather than surrendering the warrant held since 1946, the brethren decided to seek amalgamation with Cleveland Lodge.
Approval having been granted by UGLE, a Ceremony of Amalgamation was conducted by the Provincial Grand Master assisted by the Provincial Grand Chaplain and a team of Provincial officers.
NB Needless to say, the meeting in question was held prior to the current lockdown but difficulties in retrieving images have delayed this post, A more detailed article is planned for the next edition of The Yorkshire Mason.
