Durham’ Three Province Cyclists’ visit Scarborough

In June 2017, cyclists from the Province of Durham completed the Coast to Coast cycle
event, from Whitehaven to Sunderland, raising some £25,000 for the Durham 2021 Festival

This was followed in 2018 by Coast and Castles Cycle Event starting in Edinburgh and ending in the Province of Durham. Exceeding
the figure of 2017 the team raised £26,000. Not to be outdone a third event was planned for 2019. This time the route was to cycle
through the three Provinces of West Yorkshire, Yorkshire North and East Ridings and returning home to Durham. A target collection of £20,000
was set (which has already been exceeded!).
A Brace of Provincial Grand Masters
On Saturday 1 June, the team visited Scarborough Masonic Club. Denison Lodge No. 1248 were celebrating their 150th Anniversary with
Yorkshire North and East Ridings ProvGM, Jeffrey Gillyon in attendance. Jeff greeted the cyclists with the ProvGM of Durham, John Arthur, also
attending to wish his team well on the final leg of their epic ‘Three Provinces’ adventure.
