08 Dec FERRUM LODGE’S DONATIONS WILL HELP UP TO 100 FAMILIES IN MIDDLESBROUGH OVER CHRISTMAS
Thanks to the generosity of Ferrum Lodge Members from fundraising efforts, including our Number’s Draw and more recently in making donations in lieu of money spent at Lodge meetings during the lockdown, the Lodge has made donations of £2,000 to the Middlesbrough Foodbank and £500 to the Cause initiative.
The Middlesbrough Foodbank also received a donation of £250 from Freemasons Charity Yorkshire North & East Ridings which was arranged by the Lodge.
With Middlesbrough being one of the highest areas of poverty in the Country our donations have provided much needed relief to families affected by the coronavirus, and is especially welcome over the festive period.
The Middlesbrough Foodbank have seen a 50% increase in requests for food parcels compared with the corresponding period last year. All donations make a remarkable difference in the lives of many families in the area who find themselves in crisis. In addition to help feeding individuals and families experiencing hardship, it also brings them hope and restores dignity.
Our donation will provide approx 75 families with a three-day emergency food parcel comprising of 9 meals.
The donation to the Cause initiative will be used towards their Christmas Hamper Campaign and have been delivering hampers to those in crisis since 1987. Their campaign is unique as the family dynamics, although remaining anonymous, are passed on to those who prepare the hampers and allows it to be personalised to meet the needs of that particular family. Our donation will provide hampers to approx 25 families and in total they will be distributing approx 1,400 hampers to needy families in the Middlesbrough area.
Not only can the Lodge members take pride in helping families during these difficult times caused by the Coronavirus but we have also been able to raise the profile of Masonry through a live broadcast on Radio Tees by
Worshipful Master Martin Tart and Martin Eggermont.
