50 for Dixie

The regular meeting of North York Lodge (No. 602) made way for a double celebration on Friday 22nd February.

First, the lodge was pleased to add a new member, as Laird Skye was initiated. The lodge was also well attended to celebrate 50 years in Freemasonry for Dixie Thomas following Laird's initiation.

Malcolm Dabbs was guest of honour to present the certificate to Dixie.
As the two took centre stage to recount just some of the stories Dixie has from the years that make up this milestone achievement, the members and those visiting were given some anecdotes from Dixie's time in National Service to hearing of his many hobbies and sporting pursuits and how Freemasonry has changed over that time. Having initially been initiated in to a lodge in the Province of Durham, before progressing in North York Lodge, Dixie maintains his relationship with Durham through Chapter membership in the province - where next year he will be celebrating 50 years as a Chapter Member (Companion).

One thing is certain, Dixie has made a lasting impression on many Freemasons over this time, always striving to uphold the values of Freemasonry.

Congratulations Dixie, and here's to many more years!
